        NORTHERN KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB

JUDGING CRITERIA

   A1 LIST

For judges who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed and have completed their first appointment and to have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club

 Level 4

Level 4 CC Judge Attend and pass a Breed Specific Assessment for the specific breed run by the Kennel Club

 • Award Challenge Certificates in the respective breed

• Any Variety classes, Groups and Best in Show at Open and Limited Shows

   A2 LIST

   For Judges who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 and who the Club would support to award C C’s if invited to judge by a society to award C C’s in the breed for that occasion

     A3 LIST (Breed Specialists)

1. Judges should have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the      support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club

2.  Judges who the Club would recommend to award CC’s in the breed but are not yet approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 List

3.  As a specialist must have been a breeder or exhibitor, or someone closely associated with the breed for at least seven years

4.  To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed (traditional route)  35 dogs (J E P route)

5. To have attended a seminar given by Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination. on Kennel Club regulations and judging procedures.

6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Confirmation and Movement.

7. To have attended a Conformation and Movement ‘Hands on’ Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

8. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the Relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

 9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances)

10. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows

“A3”  LIST (Non-Breed Specialists)

1. Judges should have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the      support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club

2.  Judges who the Club would recommend to award C C’s in the breed but are not yet approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 List

3.  As a non-breed specialist must have been a breeder or exhibitor, or someone closely associated with the breed for at least seven years

4.  To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed (traditional route)  35 dogs (J E P route)

5. To have attended a seminar given by Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination. on Kennel Club regulations and judging procedures.

6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Confirmation and Movement.

J E P (Judges Education Programme) Level 3

 • Undergo minimum of 3 mentoring sessions with a minimum of 12 months between first and third session.

 • Be observed judging a breed club show, breed supported entry show or championship show without C C’s.   (Minimum 7 dogs examined)

• Have achieved the relevant hands-on experience in line with the stated requirements for the relevant Stud Book Band (for Band D)

• Complete remaining 10 full day stewarding appointments (one-time qualification)

 • Have owned/bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book – save for exceptional circumstances (one-time qualification)

• Attended the appropriate sub-group Field Trial/Open Gundog Working Test for first gundog breed or Ring Procedure at Licensed Shows (German Shepherd Dog Education Programme) online exam (one-time qualification) • Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows (no C C’s)

 • Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Shows

 B List (Breed Specialists) .

 1. To have 5 years owning and exhibiting this breed have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club

2. To have judged 20 dogs in the breed at Open Shows Championship Shows without C C’s.

3. To have attended a seminar relative to the breed

 B LIST (Non-Breed Specialists)

1. To have 5 years judging experience of any one breed have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club

2. To have judged 20 dog f this breed at Open Shows Championship Shows without C C’s.

3. To have attended a seminar relative to this breed

 JEP (Judges Education Programme) Level 2 First breed:

 • Take and pass Requirements of a Dog Show Judge examination

• Pass Points of a Dog assessment

 • Attend a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and pass a Multiple-Choice Examination (M C E) for the respective breed.

 • View ring stewarding seminar and take online quiz ( Kennel Club Website)

 • Complete critique writing seminar and take online quiz Subsequent breeds:

 • Attend a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and pass a Multiple-Choice Examination (M C E) for each breed.

 Note: Not mandatory for Group Judge for breeds in the group that they are not approved at Level 4, but attendance strongly recommended

                                                       Eligibility to Judge

• Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows (no Ccs)

 • Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Shows

“C” LIST

For aspirant judges of King Charles Spaniels who have displayed a distinct interest in the breed and who have preferably judged the breed but as of yet have not met the criteria for any of the above-mentioned lists and have the support of the Northern king Charles Spaniel Club

 J E P (Judges Education Programme) Level 1 Minimum of 5 years proven interest in pedigree dogs (Judges may only accept appointments if they have achieved Level 1 as a minimum).

 • Attend a Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar (But not mandatory to take and pass examination)

 • Attend a Conformation and Movement seminar

 • Complete a minimum of 2 full days stewarding appointments 

                                                Eligibility to Judge

 Up to 3 classes (4 if one is a Puppy class) for any breed at Limited or Open Shows

HONORARY LIST

For those judges who are no longer active in the breed

When a person is proposed for inclusion on the Club’s Judging List, it is the responsibility of the Committee to ensure the person possesses the necessary qualifications for inclusion on that List

Acceptance or rejection will be decided by a two thirds majority of Committee members
