THE NORTHERN KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB. CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.
Sat 19th April2014 @ Grenoside Community Centre.
Judge – PATRICIA CLAYTON (BARVAE).
May I thank the Officers and Committee for re inviting me to Judge, having previously Judged their Open Show some 36years ago, and for the charlie Gifts which I will truly treasure.
Congratulations must go to the Club’s hard working Team who provided a well organised and friendly Event held at a most splendid Venue.
My thanks also goes to the Exhibitors for presenting me with an excellent entry of 156, and for their sporting acceptance of my decisions. At the moment we appear to have some quality charlies with well defined stops, true St.Paul domed heads, large wide set dark eyes, well placed low ears nicely fringed, square muzzles wide and deep well turned up, giving a nice finish, with very soft expressions.
Most of the exhibits looked typical standing before I went over them but I did find some undesirable long bodies, too low tailsets, tails carried above the level of back, narrow rear movement, and some exhibits were too big and spoilt the overall picture of a true charlie.
We do have some promising youngster coming up through the ranks, in both the Minor Puppy and Puppy Classes I had to split hairs between the first three
I felt the strong LIMIT DOG class required a lot of thought to enable me to comply as close as possible with my personal interpretation of the Breed Standard. I was looking for a compactly built refined Charlie showing good type, balance, size and soundness in gleaming silky coat with purposeful movement shown at a controlled pace. Quality is important so breeders should be content with exhibiting and breeding from only the best.
I was delighted with my final unbeaten line-up, I could have used more Prize Cards in the large, class’s, many lovely specimens
Had to go cardless.
My sincere thanks to all concerned, I enjoyed very much this opportunity to go over your special breed once again. Also special thanks to Ron Stewart my efficient Ring Steward
