{"id":1359,"date":"2015-05-28T08:49:09","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T08:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thenorthernkingcharlesspanielclub.co.uk\/?page_id=1359"},"modified":"2026-01-05T18:04:27","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T18:04:27","slug":"judging-criteria-and-lists","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thenorthernkingcharlesspanielclub.co.uk\/?page_id=1359","title":{"rendered":"Judging"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m_6755823049188445749ms-outlook-mobile-signature\">\n<h3 class=\"adM\">Please also see the Club&#8217;s Judging Lists<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>NORTHERN KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JUDGING CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; A1 LIST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For judges who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed and have completed their first appointment and to have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Level 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Level 4 CC Judge Attend and pass a Breed Specific Assessment for the specific breed run by the Kennel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Award Challenge Certificates in the respective breed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Any Variety classes, Groups and Best in Show at Open and Limited Shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp; A2 LIST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>For Judges who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 and who the Club would support to award C C\u2019s if invited to judge by a society to award C C\u2019s in the breed for that occasion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A3 LIST (Breed Specialists)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Judges should have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp; Judges who the Club would recommend to award CC\u2019s in the breed but are not yet approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 List<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp; As a specialist must have been a breeder or exhibitor, or someone closely associated with the breed for at least seven years<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp; To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed (traditional route)&nbsp; 35 dogs (J E P route)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. To have attended a seminar given by Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination. on Kennel Club regulations and judging procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Confirmation and Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. To have attended a Conformation and Movement \u2018Hands on\u2019 Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and\/or assessment where applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. To have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the Relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and\/or assessment where applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;9. To have bred and\/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cA3\u201d&nbsp; LIST (Non-Breed Specialists)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>J E P (Judges Education Programme) Level 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Undergo minimum of 3 mentoring sessions with a minimum of 12 months between first and third session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Be observed judging a breed club show, breed supported entry show or championship show without C C\u2019s.&nbsp;&nbsp; (Minimum 7 dogs examined)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Have achieved the relevant hands-on experience in line with the stated requirements for the relevant Stud Book Band (for Band D)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Complete remaining 10 full day stewarding appointments (one-time qualification)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Have owned\/bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book \u2013 save for exceptional circumstances (one-time qualification)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Attended the appropriate sub-group Field Trial\/Open Gundog Working Test for first gundog breed or Ring Procedure at Licensed Shows (German Shepherd Dog Education Programme) online exam (one-time qualification) \u2022 Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows (no C C\u2019s)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;B List (Breed Specialists) .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;1. To have 5 years owning and exhibiting this breed have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. To have judged 20 dogs in the breed at Open Shows Championship Shows without C C\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. To have attended a seminar relative to the breed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;B LIST (Non-Breed Specialists)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. To have 5 years judging experience of any one breed have the support of the Northern King Charles Spaniel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. To have judged 20 dog f this breed at Open Shows Championship Shows without C C\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. To have attended a seminar relative to this breed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;JEP (Judges Education Programme) Level 2 First breed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Take and pass Requirements of a Dog Show Judge examination<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Pass Points of a Dog assessment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Attend a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and pass a Multiple-Choice Examination (M C E) for the respective breed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 View ring stewarding seminar and take online quiz ( Kennel Club Website)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Complete critique writing seminar and take online quiz Subsequent breeds:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Attend a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and pass a Multiple-Choice Examination (M C E) for each breed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Note: Not mandatory for Group Judge for breeds in the group that they are not approved at Level 4, but attendance strongly recommended<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Eligibility to Judge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows (no Ccs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cC\u201d LIST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For aspirant judges of King Charles Spaniels who have displayed a distinct interest in the breed and who have preferably judged the breed but as of yet have not met the criteria for any of the above-mentioned lists and have the support of the Northern king Charles Spaniel Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;J E P (Judges Education Programme) Level 1 Minimum of 5 years proven interest in pedigree dogs (Judges may only accept appointments if they have achieved Level 1 as a minimum).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Attend a Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar (But not mandatory to take and pass examination)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Attend a Conformation and Movement seminar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u2022 Complete a minimum of 2 full days stewarding appointments&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Eligibility to Judge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Up to 3 classes (4 if one is a Puppy class) for any breed at Limited or Open Shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HONORARY LIST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those judges who are no longer active in the breed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a person is proposed for inclusion on the Club\u2019s Judging List, it is the responsibility of the Committee to ensure the person possesses the necessary qualifications for inclusion on that List<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acceptance or rejection will be decided by a two thirds majority of Committee members<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July&nbsp;
